Asparagus Production

In 2019, we planted 15,000 asparagus roots (also called crowns). This planting was all done by hand with roots being placed 8" apart in rows across the field.

When spring temperatures consistently reach around 18 degrees celsius, the asparagus plants will send up new spears. We do not need to plant each spring. Asparagus is a perrenial plant which means it comes back every year. New spears will come up every day as long as the weather is warm!

Each morning in May and June we are out cutting the new spears to deliver to our self serve stands. Some spears are thin, and some are very thick. Everyone has a preference!

As soon as the spears are cut, they are packed into bunches and sent out to our stands.

Fresh from our field to you!
